Every Thought I Had While Watching Avengers: Infinity War
ALERT!!!
SO MANY SPOILERS TO COME IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED INFINITY WARS!!!!
I consider myself a pretty decent fan to the marvel movies that have been produced over the last 10 years. While my love for these movies does not even begin to reach Harry Potter level since I have not read any of the comics, I still go to see every new marvel premiere that comes out. That being said, all of this post is strictly my opinions and perceptions of the movie that I was admittedly a little late in watching since it dropped on April 27th (thank you to my two jobs for keeping me busy).
The Before:
I watched the trailers for the movie and read the articles of speculation as to what people thought was going to happen such as the soul stone being in Wakanda and the importance of the roles some characters made. Once the movie hit the big screens I did everything I could to make sure I did not ruin any single part of it before I got to watch it for myself.
My only guesses to what I thought were going to happen in the movie were as follows:
- I thought Tony Stark/ Iron Man would be one of the Avengers to die. Simply because he wanted out of the Avengers and to be with Pepper so I figured what better way to ruin the fun then kill him off right?
- I thought the soul stone was in Wakanda. I read a rather convincing article about the reasons the soul stone was located in Wakanda and since Wakanda was featured in the previews it made some pretty decent sense in my mind.
- I thought Thanos was going to be stopped. I mean come on it is the Avengers people! How could they not stop him?!
During:
Within the first 5 minutes of the movie, my whole world was shook. Some of my thoughts at the introduction of the first few characters goes something like this..
"Death number one. Thanos comes in and BAM just like that Loki is gone... Poor Thor you already lost your Mom, Dad and sister but now your brother? Don't worry though, if you need a shoulder to cry on I can definitely lend you one 😉 Even with one eye this man is beautiful."
"The incredible and indestructible Hulk is shut down quicker than you can even blink? Okay this Thanos dude is baaaaad news. However, shout out to you Heimdall for being death number two and sacrificing yourself to get Hulk back to Earth to relay the warning. You're the real MVP."
"Oh here comes Doctor Strange and eh he wasn't my favorite Marvel movie to watch but okay I think your fighting scenes got better in this movie."
"Ahhh here comes Tony Stark and his witty banner."
As I watched every single Avenger get shut down by Thanos, I came to realize he is an actual villain who gets stuff done for once. This man and his loyal followers have some serious powers you do not want to mess with. So many choices were made poorly and for once the Avengers winning the battle was not looking like a favorable outcome.
- Any scene with Spider-Man in it.
- The totally awesome moment when Black Widow, Wanda and Okoye team up to take down the ugly, pompous not so nice word bad girl.
- Teenage Groot and his sass.

The parts of the movie I really enjoyed:
- The scene where the Guardians rescue Thor is probably one of my favorite.- Any scene with Spider-Man in it.

- Teenage Groot and his sass.
Maria and I meeting Star-Lord and baby Groot last summer.
A few observations I made during the film:
- I think the movie did a fantastic job with transitions and getting all the Marvel characters to come together. You knew just by the music playing, which heroes you would be introduced to next.
- While there were several funny moments in the film, I feel as if the previews gave away the biggest ones, making the impact of the jokes not as great.
- I understand why they took Vision to Wakanda to see if Shuri could get the stone out of his head without killing him, but if I was a resident of Wakanda I would have probably been highly upset that up until this point in the movie, my city had very little to do with the plot and they bring the last stone here for our city to be attacked. That is just my opinion but perhaps I just thought the last stone being in Wakanda made so much sense that all other story lines seemed disappointing.
- Lastly, what does Thanos and his crew think will happen to them if he succeeds? Does Thanos have the ability to make sure he is not part of the chosen to die? Will he use that power for his faithful followers? Or will they suffer the random fate that was cast upon the Avengers?

There were tears but not as many as I expected...
I only managed to cry twice during the entire movie for probably silly reasons to most. First when I thought my #1 prediction was coming true and Thanos was on the verge of killing Iron Man. Those tears were flowing and he wasn't even officially dead yet, but Doctor Strange finally sorted out his priorities (kinda) so I appreciate him sparing Iron Man's life. The second time came when they introduced Wakanda. My all-time favorite Marvel films right now stand as Black Panther in first place and Thor Ragnorok in second. So it got me extremely excited to see all my Wakanda loves back in the spotlight so soon.
As the movie entered its final fight scene, so many thoughts were circling my head. For instance:
"What are those things attacking my Avengers?! They look like demogorgons from Stranger Things and I can't do this.""No! None of them are actually dead... This is a sick joke"
"CHRIS PRATT I LOVE YOU BUT STAR-LORD THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT"
"This movie is getting way out of hand and I do not believe any of it for a second! The remaining Avengers have to get the time stone, turn back time and make sure Doctor Strange's victorious outcome happens. T'CHALLA IS NOT DEAD."
After:
On the way home from the theater I called my friend Collin to process. The more time that passes from me watching this movie, the more I convince myself everything is going to be just fine. My prediction is that the follow up to this movie has the newer Avengers coming back from the dead. I am not however completely naive and I know that some of my beloved originals may be fighting their last fights soon so I am all too anxious for the next one to come out. Hopefully Thanos is stopped and out of the deaths that weren't a result of Thanos's finger snap, I hope Gamora is the one who returns. Not because Star-Lord deserves it, but because Gamora needs to be the one who ends Thanos.
Me pretending to be an Avenger. Do I fit in?
