5 Things to Do as an Adult at Disney

DISNEY IS NOT JUST FOR KIDS...

There, I said it. Disney is not just a destination for parents with young kids who feel obligated to not deprive their kids of "normal childhood experiences." It is a place for people of all ages and walks of life to enjoy. Thousands of young adults/college kids work at Walt Disney World and spend their free time playing in the parks. I even know grown adults who chose to come to Disney on their honeymoons or anniversary.  There is so much to do beyond standing in line and riding Dumbo for the 47th time.

Here are 5 things to do at Disney that are adult oriented.

1. Jellyrolls

Jellyrolls is a dueling piano bar located at Disney's Boardwalk Resort for guest over the age of 21. Two piano players perform any guest request whether familiar or bizarre. Make sure you go relatively early and expect a coverage charge at the door. You must have a valid ID to enter but other than that just get ready to have a blast!

2. Drink Around the World at EPCOT

Drinking around the world at the World Showcase in EPCOT* is probably one of the most popular adult activities at Disney. There are 11 countries to drink in basically making you a world drinker... I mean traveler.

In order the countries go left to right:

Mexico
Norway
China
Germany
Italy
United States
Japan
Morocco
France
United Kingdom
Canada

At about 10-15 dollars a drink, this is a challenge you should take on with a friend or two. Don't forget your EPCOT inspired drinking shirts from Etsy nor your tolerance at home because it will certainly be a long fun filled day. So the only question left is do you want to start with tequila or end with tequila?

*Remember that you do have to pay the price of an admission ticket to get into the park.

3. Disney Springs After Dark

I've mentioned Disney Springs a million times in my blog posts so here is a million and one. I love Disney Springs so much and the fact that they completely renovated half of the area to include bars that stay open until 2 a.m. is a beautiful thing. Disney Springs is free to get in to so the only things you pay for here are the drinks and of course the late night Wetzel's Pretzels snack. Paradiso 37 has beer and margaritas for 5 dollars, Wine Bar George just opened a few weeks ago with over 130 wines, and Raglan Road has Guinness on tap for those of you who like dark beer. Every night they have DJs and live performances all around the area for you to enjoy as you relax and have a drink or two.

4. Spa/Golf Day

When you want to relax after a night of drinking or sweat out the booze from the aforementioned activities, try a golf or spa day.

Disney has 3 golf courses on property. Wondering if they are any good? Parts of the PGA tour have been played at these Disney courses. Disney's Magnolia Golf Course is by Disney's Polynesian Resort and is the longest of all 3 courses.

Wanting to take it slower with a spa day? There are a few places you can go. The Grand Floridian Spa at the Grand Floridian Resort is a full service spa in a Victorian setting. From body wraps to facials and massages, you will be recuperated in no time.

5. Take a Guided Tour

I get asked all the time what it's like working at Disney. Some are curious about how magical it is, others are fascinated by how Disney runs such a huge operation every day. Most people just want to know more about what goes on behind the scenes and I tell them to book a guided tour! One of the most popular tours to take is the Keys to the Kingdom tour. This 5 hour walking tour takes you super in depth about Magic Kingdom and Walt Disney. It even includes a tour of the "tunnels" Disney uses underneath Magic Kingdom for logistic purposes, (though why anyone would willingly go down there is a mystery to me. It smells and it's dark and damp).

Disney is a place for people to come who enjoy spending time with the people they love in a place that makes magic truly come to life. Try these things next time you are in Disney without kids and let me know if it changes your perspective!
