How to Take Cute Candid Disney Pics: Hollywood Studios Edition
"The way to get started is to stop talking and start doing." - Walt Disney
Disney's Hollywood Studios has changed immensely since its opening in 1989. Amidst a name change came multiple park layout changes over the years. From getting rid of the Sorcerer's hat at the entrance to the park, to cancelling the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights and then eventually closing the Streets of America all together, Hollywood Studios has been through a lot. Admittedly, it has not been my favorite park to visit over the past couple years due to half of the park being under reconstruction but starting this year things are about to get extremely busy. The park is about to open two new lands with in the next year or so. The first being Toy Story land set to open June 30th, 2018. That's only a month away!
I stopped by to see how the construction was going and got some cute photos with the construction walls they have up. The new land will shrink you down to toy size and include a second roller coaster for the park, based off slinky the dog. The entrance will be located right next to Toy Story Mania, which is where I took these pictures. The walls will still be up for a few more weeks if anyone wants to swing by!
If you continue to walk past Toy Story Mania to a current dead end in the park, you are able to also take a picture below this cute marque. This is up all year round and super cute for a best friend photo!
In the walk through of "One Man's Dream" there is a wall that has a sketch of the Disneyland castle on the wall. I thought this made for a great picture even if it belongs in California.
Lastly, before leaving this area, make sure to grab a pic with the newest member of the Cars family, Cruz!
The second land set to open next year may be huge news to some fans. I, unfortunately, have yet to see the entire series and am ashamed to even be writing this sentence.. yikes! However, Star War's fans will have a the time of their life in the new Star Wars Galaxy's Edge. I am not entirely sure what the land will include yet, though I know Disney has announced it. If you are a huge fan and want to read more about it, click here. I was however, able to see the entrance of the land and take a picture in front of the construction wall there as well.
This will be an addition to an already existing Star Wars ride at the park which is home to this great photo opportunity.
Basically how I feel whenever anyone talks about the Star Wars movies. Backwards and lost...
Moving on to another area of the park where things get furry and funny, the Muppets have their own area to create chaos. This area is bright and fun which obviously makes for some of the cutest pictures.
As soon as you enter the area you are greeted by the pink pig princess herself, Miss Piggy. She channels her inner Lady Liberty, welcoming guests with a lovely water fountain statue.
Off to the left of the water fountain statue is a green door that seems to lead to nowhere but reminds me of a certain frog...
Just ahead of the green door is a building that is now home to a newly renovated restaurant, PizzeRizzo. Based off the name, the restaurant serves all things pizza and is owned by the one and only Rizzo the Rat. The inside is actually extremely cool for a fast food place and includes decorations themed like an Italian New York pizza eatery.
This sign felt appropriate to stand under, being a rule breaker and all ;)
In the back room of the two story restaurant is a hidden gem that surprised even myself. It includes a disco ball, a chandelier and vine trimmed walls. They have music playing all the time and even a dance floor so you can bust a move. This picture was taken against the wall with the vines.
Outside the restaurant is this fun wall and anyone who knows me, knows how much I love cheese!
Right around the corner is the tomato loading zone used by the restaurant. Another favorite food of mine so honestly it really isn't a surprise that pizza is my favorite food.
Around the back side of the land is a souvenir shop that the Muppets are currently (for many years now) painting. Kermit stands out front looking very dapper and I decided it would be a great idea to slide down his cane. The lovely cast member that told me to get down, did not.
On the other side of the building, closest to the exit for the Muppets ride, they seem to have had a little accident while redecorating.
Just as you are exiting the area, there is a giant bulls-eye painted on the ground. While I did think of the chances of a baby grand piano falling on my head were high, I took the chance and posed anyway.
As you leave the park, right next to the 50s Prime Time Cafe, there is a hidden entrance to a faux
apartment complex. The gate was locked but that didn't stop me from trying to go in.
Hollywood Studios is also home to many character meet and greets that you can not get any where else in Disney. My two favorites are Star Lord and baby Groot together and then Olaf:
Star Lord and Groot can be found at the end of "One Man's Dream" where the wait is typically no more than 30 minutes.
Depending on the time of the year, Olaf can get busy but I happened to only wait 10 minutes for this picture. Olaf likes warm hugs so I made sure to give him an extra big one my first time meeting him!
There are several areas in the park that are picture worthy and I am beyond excited to see how Hollywood Studios transforms in the next few years. That way I can go back and take many more pictures!
