Walt Disney World "Incredible" Summer Expo 2018
"I never look back darling, it distracts from the now" - Edna Mode
This summer (May 25th through September 3rd) Magic Kingdom park is getting a super makeover in Tomorrowland. The park is celebrating the release of The Incredibles 2 with an expo throughout Tomorrowland including photo ops, character meet and greets, fun foods and more. The expo is included in the price of a park admission ticket to Magic Kingdom but obviously any food or souvenirs are extra. I stopped in on my days off recently to check it all out!
Upon walking over the bridge that takes you to Tomorrowland there are decorative banners of the cast, welcoming you into the expo.
Once you get in to the land there are many options to chose from as to what to do next. I chose to stop and get pictures in front of all the cool backdrops they have set up.
This one was taken right next to the Stitch ride.
Right in between the bathrooms and Cosmic Rays quick service restaurant, there is an Incredible wall that you can take a picture in front of. I also happened to run into Jack-Jack showing off his new powers!
The next one can be found in front of the Carousel of Progress. The Omnidroid, which almost destroyed Metroville, is now wreaking havoc on Tomorrowland. Here I am casually hanging out with him before he started to do any damage.
Next to the Tomorrowland Speedway, the Underminer has decided to declare "war on peace and happiness." Last seen breaking ground at the end of the Incredible's first movie, the Underminer picks up right where he left off at the beginning of the second movie. I was lucky enough to see the first few minutes of the second movie in a showing at Hollywood Studios a few weeks ago but that is the only spoiler I am giving!
There were a few more photo opportunities around the land but due to technology I currently do not have the pictures to post in this blog. That's life though!
Once you're done with the backdrops you can check out the Incredible's merchandise they have for sale. My favorite is the Edna Mode wig and glasses you can get.
Perhaps more practically you can buy an Edna Mode plush. Included is the signature Edna face that just screams "no capes!"
If Edna isn't your favorite (hard to believe) then you can also check out the Parr family plush toys. Jack-Jack, Dash, Violet, Helen and Bob, the gangs all here! If you can't stop in and check out the shirts, toys, mugs, etc. or are not able to find what you want, you can always shop at Disney's official online store as well, shopDisney.com.
Next comes the food! While I didn't quite eat my way around the expo, I certainly stopped by and checked everything out.
I did splurge on the Mrs. Incredible Pretzel Mask from the Lunching Pad underneath of the People mover. For 6 dollars you get a pretzel with cheese. I was unsure what the "black stuff" was at first and was interested to try it out, only to find out it was colored salt. While buying the pretzel, a cast member gave us some Disney magic by giving my friend Emma a bag of Jack-Jack cookies. So Jorge from Puerto Rico, thank you for your kindness!
Though I haven't tried them yet, they are certainly on my list. I am interested to taste Edna's No Capes Just Crepes from Auntie Gravity's Galactic Goodies. They look delicious and tastefully put together, but of course Edna wouldn't have it any other way.
Last on my list but only due to timing, was the Incredible Dance party taking place on the Rocket Tower Stage. Basically from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. everyday, the supers and some of their new friends come out to show off their skills and party! Rumor had it this is where Edna would make her park debut and we were not disappointed. Emma and I went right at 2 p.m. when the show started. We quickly learned this may not have been the best idea since it was sunny and 95. However, we stuck it out with lots of hydration, and stayed until 3 p.m. when Edna finally made her entrance. So if you are planning on going just to see her I would recommend coming a little later to the party.
If you're a brave soul like Emma and I, then by all means party it up the whole hour!
The host of the Super Party Time was a ball of energy the whole time
Mrs. Incredible came out first
And we busted a few moves
Then one of the new supers, Whipper Snapper, came out to show us his new powers.
And then we busted a few more moves
Mr. Incredible decided to make an appearance
So of course we busted a move together
And took selfies
Another newcomer, Static Electricity, came out to show off her talents
And then, yup you guessed it, we busted another move!
My dude Frozone showed up and it was all Ice Ice Baby
After an hour of pure sweat and fun, my girl FINALLY decided to show up. Edna you are timeless!
My reaction when Edna threw her hand in my face and told me to wait. I'd still move mountains for this woman.
Fabulous Darling!
The expo is a cute way to spend the afternoon in the park. I would recommend coming on an empty stomach and bringing a camera to make sure you capture the moment. I hope you can enjoy all the festivities as we count down to the release of Incredibles 2 (just 6 days away!!!)
