French for a Week
Third times a charm...
I spent last week in France bouncing all over the place. My aunt and I took a train from London to Disneyland Paris for two nights then headed to Paris for two more days. This was my third time visiting Paris and it was amazing as always! My aunt had previously never been so we spent the few days doing the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre, Notre Dame and Sacre-Coeur Montmarte.

On Saturday my friend Erica from my study abroad trip was able to meet up and spend the very VERY hot day with us. All I can say is I’m thankful our hotel had AC because the rest of Paris did not. 😅

That evening Erica and her boyfriend, Midou, invited us to the river (Siene) to sit and have drinks and watch the boats go by. The night before, my aunt and I were on one of the boats so it was cool to see it from the other perspective.

From there my aunt and I parted ways, her to Ohio and myself to Lyon, France where I stayed with my friend Marie.
Marie and I have been friends for about 4 years since she came to spend a year in Bowling Green to study. I can’t believe it’s been that long! Since then I’ve actually been able to meet up with her two other times, once in Strasbourg, France and once back at school. I have a love/hate relationship with so many friends being spread all over the world. On one hand it’s nice to have friends to visit everywhere and on the other hand, I seem them once every few years.
Marie and I spent a few days in Lyon basically suffering from heat stroke as temperatures hit 97 degrees and her apartment is without AC. Europeans swear it “never gets this hot” but I’m convinced they just like suffering.
Trying to beat the heat at the city pool and sight see
After a few days in Lyon we decided to join Marie’s boyfriend in the country side of France at his grandma’s home. The place was incredible and the home cooked French meals were delicious. The French like to enjoy looooong meals with lots of food and this was my first real taste of the four course meal with wine in a traditional French home. Honestly I just don’t understand how they are still so skinny because I ate so much food.
The place was honestly incredible!
Unfortunately after a few days it was time to leave Marie, so I flew to Rome last Friday and have been in Montefiascone (just north of Rome) since then. My posts have been out of chronological order since everything is happening so quickly and I haven’t had much time to myself. I can’t complain though because Italy is everything I wanted it to be 😍 the views, the food, the people, all of it has been incredible so far.
